After all the excitement generated by online leaks and exclusive flash videos of our favorite 4x4, FCA, Jeep's parent company, officially released photos and some details of this new off-roadster.
At first glance (albeit the fully decked out Rubicon edition), the redesigned 2018 Wrangler makes me want my Jeep all over again! The new Wrangler looks like a natural progression into the future of the Wrangler line up. The grill is still the iconic 7 slotted grill but with a bit more of a forward lean. Our beloved drop down windshield has survived although it has a canter forward design to keep up with Cafe standards. (US Government's requirement for lighter more fuel efficient vehicles). The Pentastar V-6 is the default engine but a diesel is said to be forthcoming. The Headlights maintain the iconic round shape and are now upgraded to LEDs.
Overall, there aren't any big upsets in this redesign but there are a ton of smaller tweeks and tucks. The front bumper is less boring and looks more like an aftermarket accessory. This new Wrangler looks very appealing and mixes the new with old in a harmonious balance that won't leave you wondering what planet it came from.
The doors still fully come off and the top is now spit down the middle by a new support/ speaker shelf. It still closely resembles its family lineage while offering upgrades for the new car buyer.
All-in-all, the next generation Wrangler looks the part of an off-road beast while keeping up with new tech offerings in the industry. Can't wait to see more - coming soon when it officially debuts in person at the LA auto show!
